Low-mileage 4-y-o POPPEYE beat a subsequent winner in decisive fashion over C&D 10 days ago so holds obvious claims under a penalty. Sea Legend shaped well behind the selection that day after 6 months off so may emerge as the main threat on 5 lb better terms, with the thriving Coramento also respected.

Timeform Comments

Cosmos Raj
Back to form when capitalising on a much reduced mark at Redcar in August and went in again from the front at that same track (in this headgear) last month. Not in same form 24 hours later at Beverley but wasted no time bouncing back when second at Wolverhampton. Cheekpieces back on.
Project Geofin
Recorded back-to-back wins last summer. Standout effort from 4 starts this season when third in Class 5 event at Doncaster (had won race the previous year) in August. Struggled in the mud both starts since but will find this more suitable (twice a winner here). Cheekpieces on and back down in trip.
Blue To Blue (IRE)
Triple winner for Karl Burke in 2025. Mixed bag for new connections, well held last 2 starts in this sphere before pulled up on hurdles bow 5 weeks ago. Hood now applied.
Camino Del Ray
Back to best fitted with headgear when winning at Southwell in March but has failed to reproduce that in 3 subsequent outings, though he fared a bit better when fourth back there last time.
Orangesandlemons
Doubled her tally at Nottingham last autumn. Hasn't gone on from her reappearance this year but at least made a bit more of an impact off her reduced mark at Southwell last week.
D Flawless (IRE)
Winner here (6f) in March and has continued in good heart, including when starting out for this yard here 4 weeks ago after 3 months off. Won her maiden over this trip as a 3-y-o.
Mwafaq (IRE)
Recorded win number 5 at Doncaster in July and went close to completing a second hat-trick when touched off at Hamilton. Remained in form until a below-par effort at Pontefract 25 days ago.
Coramento
All 5 career wins have come here, including 2 of last 3 starts after rejoining this yard. Forced into a higher grade now but he's thriving.
Regal Desire (FR)
Runner-up first 2 starts in maidens but was only eighth of 13 on handicap bow at Pontefract last time despite running up to her best.
Director's Cut (IRE)
Won C&D novice for the Gosdens last autumn. Has failed to kick on this year, however, including running poorly both starts for this yard.
Sea Legend (FR)
Scored twice over C&D earlier this year and shaped well back from 6 months off when 2½ lengths fifth to Poppeye here 10 days ago. Entitled to come on for that and is 5 lb better off with the winner here.
Lone Piper
Signed off 2024 with a win at Windsor from 4 lb higher. Restricted to just 4 runs last year, however, and offered little starting out for this yard at Musselburgh after 13 months off 18 days ago. Headgear back on.
Poppeye
Showed improved form to get off the mark over C&D 10 days ago, suited by the drop back in trip as he beat a next-time-out winner. This 4-y-o only made his debut in April so he could well have more to offer.
Criminal Shore (IRE)
Infrequent winner but did score over C&D in June off 4 lb higher. Ran poorly over 7f here 18 days ago.
