A few of these are lurking on dangerous marks, notably TIRIAC, who has caught the eye on turf of late and has a good record here. Massimo Blue is the obvious threat under a penalty given the progress he has made for his current yard.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Massimo Blue traded at a high of 3.60 and Betfair SP of 3.43 when winning last time, a race in which it led and travelled strongly early on.

Timeform Comments

Massimo Blue
Gained back-to-back Southwell wins on his first 2 starts for this yard (formerly with George Baker) in August and confirmed he's still on the upgrade when resuming winning ways in comfortable fashion there 11 days ago, responding well to front-running tactics. Obvious claims under a penalty.
Fortamour (IRE)
Veteran who won back-to-back races off higher marks over C&D last autumn but has run to that level only once this year (just denied at Ripon in May), always behind back from a break at Pontefract last time. Needs the return to Newcastle to rekindle him.
Roaring Ralph
Thriving earlier this year with 5 wins from February to June. Went off the boil after but stopped the slide from his reduced mark when third over C&D 18 days ago, responding well to more positive tactics.
Great
Successful twice this summer, latterly at Pontefract in August, and back to that sort of form last 2 starts, including when not beaten far over C&D 18 days ago. The stronger the pace the better his chance.
Invincible Ruby (IRE)
Twice a winner at Carlisle (6f, good) this summer. In-and-out form since, down the field on a rare start on all-weather (well held on both previous attempts) at Southwell 2 weeks ago.
Bright (IRE)
Little promise to take from recent turf efforts but he's better known for his all-weather exploits and last 3 wins have come at Newcastle. Able to race off a career-low mark back on this surface.
The Green Man (IRE)
Recorded 3 wins here late last year (twice over C&D) and largely consistent in defeat during first half of 2026. Disappointed on 2 of his 3 starts on turf thereafter but recent run here after 3 months off should bring him on.
Hectic
Without a win so far this year and looked one paced in a weaker race than this over C&D 10 days ago. Visor now the choice of headgear.
Sugar Baby
Veteran who got back on the scoreboard at Doncaster in June but has largely disappointed since, including when backed at long odds at Redcar 2 weeks ago.
Tiriac
Won twice over 5f here last winter off higher marks. Winless since but caught the eye off his reduced mark when fourth of 15 at Nottingham and didn't have the chance to build on that at Leicester 17 days ago (badly hampered). Remains one to be interested in, especially now returned to this venue.
Pal Joey
Lost his way for Ben Haslam after winning over 5f here off 9 lb higher in January but returns from a break potentially well treated for new yard. Market can guide.
Bellagio Man (IRE)
Veteran who's not straightforward but won back-to-back over C&D this time last year off similar marks. Has yet to fire confined to just 4 outings this season and best watched until displaying more positive signs.
Winter Crown
Made a winning stable debut over C&D this time last year off 5 lb higher but went the wrong way after, including back on turf last 3 starts after 8 months off. Headgear back on.
