Timeform View

Penalised pair LORD CHURCHILL and Saint Argente make most appeal. The latter impressed in coming from last to first at Warwick but the former accounted for a next-time-out winner in a good time on his debut at Wincanton and edges the vote. Colombe D'or is a well-bred newcomer from a yard in excellent order and would have to enter calculations if supported in the betting.

Timeform Comments

Lord Churchill (IRE)
Churchill gelding who seemed suited by a truly-run race when coming clear for a convincing success in 8-runner bumper at Wincanton (15f) on debut (for Seamus Mullins) in April. That form has been franked by the runner-up and he looks up to defying a penalty for his new stable.
Saint Argente (IRE)
Beaumec De Houelle gelding. Dam, 2¼m hurdle winner in France, sister to Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Djakadam. Hooded and made a winning debut in the manner of a handy prospect in 11-runner bumper at Warwick (2m) in March. Must be respected under a penalty. Has had a breathing operation.
Shane's Spirit (IRE)
Getaway gelding who didn't need to improve on his debut form for Stuart Crawford to land a lesser bumper at Plumpton (2¼m, good to firm) 41 days ago, well on top finish. This asks for more under a penalty.
Hoo's The Jet
€11,500 3-y-o, £30,000 4-y-o, Jet Away gelding. Dam, fair hurdle winner around 3m, half-sister to fairly useful 2m hurdle winner I Can't Explain. Placed both starts in points (latest Mar 2026).
Colombe D'or (FR)
€75,000 3-y-o, No Risk At All gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler/high-class chaser (winner around 2m) Hinterland and French hurdler/chase winner (17f-2¼m winner) Lofte Place. Appealing newcomer for stable in tremendous form.
Jack's Succes
Jack Hobbs gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler/top-class chaser (stayed 21f) Balder Succes. One to note in the betting for upwardly-mobile yard.
Wheresdcueballgoin (IRE)
€12,000 3-y-o, Blue Bresil gelding. Dam unraced sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 21f) Across The Line. One of 2 runners for the stable.
Jota's Gold (IRE)
Doyen mare. Half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser Pic Roc, stays 3¼m and fairly useful hurdler A Distant Place. Beaten a long way out in 2m bumper at Warwick on debut in February and probably one for the longer term.
The Rarest Hour (IRE)
€23,000 3-y-o, Poet's Word filly. Half-sister to useful hurdler Flemcara and useful hurdler/chaser Quinta Do Mar. Dam (c112/h108) 2m-3m hurdle/chase winner. Fourth on both starts in Irish points (latest Apr 1). Yard not renowned for first-time-out bumper winners.
