Timeform View

With the Twiston-Davies stable in form it's worth taking a chance that GUARD THE MOON, who has a good record fresh, is on a going day on his reappearance. Caughtinyourtrance has developed into a likeable and consistent handicap chaser in the first half of this season and is second choice ahead of Grand Geste, a fine second on this card on last season's reappearance.

Timeform Comments

Guard The Moon
Up-and-down record over fences, winning twice and pulling up twice from 4 outings last season. His stable's good form this autumn provides hope that this reappearance might be one of his good days.
Grand Geste (IRE)
Took well to chasing last season, winning the Tommy Whittle and Grand National Trial at Haydock. Stable among the winners and he was runner-up on this card on last year's reappearance. Has had a breathing operation.
Egbert
Very much on a going day when making a winning start for Christian Williams at Haydock just after Christmas but back to looking unenthusiastic when pulling up in 2 outings in the spring. Changed hands for £10,000 in May. Not one for maximum faith but fresh may be the time to catch him.
Caughtinyourtrance (IRE)
Versatile sort who has returned better than ever, winning over fences and hurdles during the summer. Good runner-up efforts over fences last twice, latterly at Perth (3m, good to soft) 39 days ago.
Grozni (FR)
Provided Sandy Thomson with another Borders National win at Kelso (4m, soft) last December. Creditable fourth of 7 in Edinburgh National at Musselburgh (31f, good to soft) only subsequent start last winter. Off 9 months. The Borders National may be the main aim again.
Fortunate Man (IRE)
Aintree reappearance success last Christmas shows he goes well fresh. Ended his campaign with a creditable fourth of 19 in handicap at Punchestown (31f, good) in May. Only 2 lb above the mark he defied at Aintree.
Passengerontheship (IRE)
Rattled off a quick-fire 5-timer in May/June and gained another win in an excellent first half of the season in the Durham National at Sedgefield (29f, good) a fortnight ago. Raised another 4 lb but hard to rule out in current mood.
Orkney Blue
Won a 3m course handicap chase (good to soft) in February. Respectable third on final 2 starts. Much depends on whether he's fully primed after 7 months off.
