Timeform View

Preference is for MOSSY FEN COOLIO, who looks on a good opening mark for his first crack at chasing and hails from a yard in flying form. Jukebox King, Grand Garcon and In The Age make up the shortlist in what should prove a highly informative opener.

Timeform Comments

Grand Garcon
Showed promise when runner-up in a Chepstow bumper last year and posted best effort over hurdles when good fourth of 8 in novice at Newbury 7 months ago. Built for this discipline and is one to consider on chase debut.
In The Age (FR)
£100,000 point winner (also fairly useful in bumpers) who was successful in Catterick novice hurdle last season. Wasn't seen to best effect when fifth of 6 in handicap over C&D (good to soft, 11/4) on debut over fences 25 days ago and likely has more to offer yet.
Mossy Fen Coolio
Irish point winner who made encouraging start under Rules earlier this year, making the frame in maidens at Wincanton and Bangor. Not at same level on final outing at Ffos Las but looks on a fair mark for his handicap chase debut and his yard remains in fine form.
Five Bar Gate (IRE)
Point bumper winner who also won a Rules bumper at Plumpton in December. Fair form in a trio of hurdles earlier this year and warrants respect on switch to chasing.
Lasko Des Obeaux (FR)
Expensive point purchase whose best Rules effort came when runner-up at Chepstow on hurdles debut this time last year. Better expected in this sphere but yard has been quiet this autumn.
Jukebox King (IRE)
Winning pointer who ran well over hurdles last season, ending campaign with creditable second of 8 in handicap at Wincanton in April. Likely type for chasing and is one for the shortlist.
Le Soleil Reve (FR)
Made a good start over hurdles and placed 3 times at up to 2½m last season. However, finished well beaten on chase debut at this course last month.
Keep Star (FR)
Dual winner in France including when taking 16-runner handicap hurdle at Compiegne 17 months ago. Not seen since, however, and market should prove best guide to claims on chase debut for new yard.
Up To Trix
Runner-up in an Irish point and made the frame in all 4 starts over hurdles last season, including when creditable second of 8 in handicap at Ffos Las (2½m, heavy) in March. Another interesting chase newcomer.
Windsurfer
Twice a winner over hurdles who posted his best effort in this sphere when very good second of 6 in handicap chase at Market Rasen in February. Not seen since, though, and faces plenty of less exposed types here.
Lexie's Moon
Suited by testing conditions and posted best effort over hurdles when good second of 5 in handicap at Uttoxeter (2m, heavy) in January. Has plenty on her plate starting out chasing here, however.
Kastellion (FR)
Second on sole start in Irish points last spring and largely acquitted himself well over hurdles last season, finding a little improvement when creditable third of 12 in handicap at Ffos Las (3m, good) in April. Will need more to figure on chase debut here, however.
Joyau Allen (FR)
Brother to high-class hurdler/chaser Envoi Allen. Clearly been a fragile sort since his bumper days and rarely threatened over hurdles for Paul Nicholls last term but joined Jamie Snowden ahead of chase debut and yard is 5 from 18 with stable-switchers since start of last season.
Galeforcechopper
Made all in 2m course maiden hurdle in September but has run poorly over fences twice since. Readily opposed.
Dynamite Defense (IRE)
Modest winner on Flat but yet to score over jumps and faces a stiff task from 12 lb out of the handicap here.
