Timeform View

Plenty of these look longer-term projects but CHOCTAW NATION shaped promisingly behind one who set a tall standard for a maiden on debut at Navan 25 days ago. Beating the rest handsomely himself on that occasion, he's clearly another above-average Ballydoyle colt and rates the one to beat with improvement forthcoming. Book of Kells and State of Play are a couple of likely newcomers before betting clues, with Cracks and Sparks and Adversity completing the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Adversity
Not without hope on pedigree and showed the benefit of his first outing when third of 18 in a Naas maiden (1m, soft) 3 weeks ago, that despite having raced freely early from his wide draw. Possible he can do better again.
Blue Glory (IRE)
Cotai Glory gelding. Dam unraced. Offered little at long odds both starts to date.
Book Of Kells (IRE)
Foaled March 7. Dubawi colt. Half-brother to high-class winner up to 1½m Auguste Rodin. Dam, winner up to 1¼m (2-y-o 7f/1m winner) who stayed 1½m, sister to high-class winner up to 1½m Magical. Makes obvious paper appeal for top yard and he commands respect on debut.
Bright Dream (IRE)
Foaled April 25. Dream Ahead gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including 2-y-o 1m winner San Martino and 1½m winner Bright Eyed Eagle. Dam 9f/1¼m (Blue Wind Stakes) winner who stayed 12.5f. Likely outsider on racecourse bow.
Byzantine Gold (IRE)
Magna Grecia gelding who went backwards from his debut effort at Down Royal when twelfth of 14 at Navan (6f) 11 days ago. Steps up significantly in trip now but will make little appeal this side of handicaps.
Choctaw Nation (IRE)
Sea The Stars colt who was unlucky to bump into one but still shaped promisingly in beating the rest handsomely when 3 lengths second of 9 in a Navan maiden (1m) 25 days ago. Clearly an above-average prospect in his own right and very much of interest with improvement forthcoming.
Cracks And Sparks
18,000 gns foal, 26,000 gns yearling, Cracksman colt. Showed plenty to work on despite signs of inexperience when fifth of 15 in maiden at Naas (7f, good to soft) on debut 17 days ago, best work finish. Should improve.
Eastern Passage (USA)
Foaled January 24. $7,000 yearling, Medaglia D'oro gelding. Half-brother to 2-y-o 5f winner Bushido and winner Shape Note.
Erico (GER)
Foaled February 7. €50,000 yearling, Guiliani colt. Closely related to smart German winner up to 11f Eric and 1m-12.4f winner in Germany Earl. Dam German 1½m/12.5f winner. Wears tongue strap starting out for leading yard and all the more interesting if supported.
Etawann (IRE)
Wootton Bassett half-brother to 10.7f winner Etawa. 50/1, shaped promisingly on debut at Leopardstown (8.5f) a fortnight ago, passing a good few in the straight having looked hopelessly green for much of the way. In good hands and entitled to do better.
Favour Royal (IRE)
Foaled April 10. Camelot colt. Brother to smart winner up to 1½m Living Legend. Dam, 1¼m-1½m winner, half-sister to useful winner up to 7f Barracuda Boy. Longer trips in due course likely to be more his bag.
One Point Five (IRE)
Cheap purchase who went with little promise when twelfth of 14 in a Gowran maiden (1m) on debut 2 weeks ago.
Piero Manzoni (IRE)
Foaled January 16. Wootton Bassett colt. Brother to useful 1¾m-16.5f winner New York Minute and half-brother to several winners, including winner up to 1½m Fancy Man. Dam unraced. May be one who comes into his own over longer trips further down the line but he's in leading hands.
Rock On Johnny (IRE)
Twice-raced gelding. 40/1, well-held fifth of 16 in maiden at Gowran (7f, good to firm) 17 days ago, keeping on without being unduly punished. Will have handicaps as an option after this.
State Of Play (FR)
Foaled February 6. €170,000 yearling, Camelot colt. Half-brother to French 1m winner Sitello. Top stable no stranger to success with a newcomer and support behind him would look significant.
System Reset
Bred to be useful and represents top jumps stable but hasn't figured in 2 starts in recent weeks.
The Pintline (IRE)
Arizona colt. Half-brother to Norwegian 7f winner Lala Lou. Sent off at 200/1 and went with no encouragement when last of 15 in maiden at Leopardstown (8.5f) 2 weeks ago.
Thunder Bay
Foaled February 2. 100,000 gns yearling, €120,000 2-y-o, New Bay colt. Half-brother to useful 1¼m winner Approval and 7f winner Nothing But Love. Stable having good spell. Betting should guide as one of 3 runners from this yard.
Too Too Much
Foaled April 7. 70,000 gns yearling, 90,000 gns 2-y-o, Too Darn Hot colt. Brother to 1¼m winner Keble Spirit, and half-brother to 1m winner A E Housman and US winner up to 9.5f Activist Investing. Stable 3-15 with 2-y-o newcomers this season at time of writing.
Wassily Kandinsky (IRE)
Foaled March 7. Frankel colt. Brother to useful 2-y-o 7f winner New Zealand and closely related to 7f-11f winner Subzero and useful 10.7f winner Agenda.
Grecian Pearl (IRE)
Rare 2-y-o runner for the stable who got closer than she had on debut without being given anything like a hard time when eighth of 13 in a 6f maiden here 12 days ago. Type to do better in handicaps after this.
Silent Promise (IRE)
Saxon Warrior filly who looked badly in need of the experience when ninth of 15 in a C&D maiden on debut 17 days ago, off bridle long way and merely plugging on. This promises to reveal more.
Tinshona (IRE)
Arizona filly. Half-sister to 1¼m winner Tindrum and 11f winner Tinchoo. Dam, 9.5f/1¼m winner, half-sister to smart 6f-9f winner Montpellier. Sent off at long odds and looked a longer-term project when well held in a Dundalk maiden (1m) on debut 9 days ago.
