Timeform View

This is likely to concern interesting hurdling debutants RICES POOL and Midnight Jukebox. Ben Pauling's charge is narrowly preferred with his Aintree bumper form working out well.

Timeform Comments

Imperial Sea (IRE)
£21,000 4-y-o, Affinisea gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler who became temperamental Ashford Wood, stayed 3m, and fair hurdler Rare Legend. Dam modest form in bumpers. Unplaced sole start in Irish points (May 2025). Likely one for the longer term under Rules.
Jetzet (IRE)
Expensive buy as a store (grandam closely related to Champion Hurdle winner Jezki). Ran to a similar level when third in a pair of bumpers last spring (fair way off the form of Rices Pool/Midnight Jukebox). Probably capable of better now sent hurdling.
Land Of Dreams (FR)
Finished 13 lengths fourth behind 3 next-time-out winners at Worcester second time up in a bumper. Offered little on hurdling debut at Huntingdon in May. First-time hood goes on and has plenty to find on return.
Midnight Jukebox (IRE)
Sold for £135,000 after seeing off now-useful hurdler Soldier Reeves in an Irish point last March. Showed plenty (including a willing head carriage) when successful in a course bumper (soft) in February. Now switched to hurdling and expected to make a bold bid to extend his winning sequence.
Moorhead
Runner-up on sole start in points. Third in a Hexham bumper prior to finishing down the field on return/hurdling bow at Carlisle. Looks one for handicaps.
Ocean View
Linda's Lad gelding. Dam (h91), maiden hurdler (stayed 2¾m), sister to modest hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 3m) Bolsover Bill, and half-sister to fairly useful chaser (stayed 3¼m) By The Boardwalk. Off mark in points at second attempt in May. Market likely to guide on hurdling/stable debut.
Rene's Ocean
Crystal Ocean gelding. Dam (c144/h128), 2½m-3m hurdle/chase winner, half-sister to smart hurdler (stayed 2½m) Swamp Fox and smart hurdler/winning chaser (stays 3m) Knappers Hill. Yard knows this family well. Probably a longer-term project unless the market suggests otherwise.
Rices Pool (IRE)
Runner-up in an Irish point. Created a good impression when going one better at Taunton on Rules debut. Shaped better than the beaten distance when eighth in an Aintree Grade 2 bumper in April. That race has already produced 5 winning hurdling debutants, and he may well become another.
Ricky Roma
Jack Hobbs gelding. Brother to point bumper winner. Dam (h150) 19f-3m hurdle winner, also in frame in Stayers' Hurdle. Another from top yard (also saddle Rene's Ocean) who's been gelded prior to debut. Betting likely to offer plenty of clues.
Ruling Planet (IRE)
42,000 gns 3-y-o, Teofilo gelding. Closely related to useful 11f winner Natural World. Dam, 1¼m winner who stayed 1½m, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler Golden Town. Off the mark in point bumpers at second attempt in March. In tongue strap for Rules debut and stable jockey prefers Rices Pool.
Short Sell (IRE)
Off mark in points at second attempt in March. Well held in a bumper/novice hurdle 5 months apart under Rules. Unlikely to make an impact this side of handicaps.
The Noble Butler (IRE)
Showed promise when 12 lengths fourth to Rices Pool on debut at Taunton in February. Hard to be confident of a reversal of form over hurdles, for all he is in good hands to progress.
Treshnish Point (IRE)
Mirrored his only start in bumpers by failing to beat a rival on hurdling bow at Kelso 9 days ago.
Westbrooke Boy
Fair form in bumpers at Huntingdon (including debut win). Should improve from his 21¼-length sixth on hurdling debut at Worcester (2m) last time. Bumper form inferior to a few of these, though will at least have hurdling experience/match fitness on his side.
