Timeform View

Lightly-raced hurdler SOUL LIMBO ought to be all the better for a recent pipe-opener on the Flat and looks a potential improver on handicap debut. He's narrowly preferred to One Island, who could be on a handy mark if back on song following a breathing operation. Goodwin Face can also go well, in what looks a trappy race.

Timeform Comments

Goodwin Face (FR)
Much improved when following up his smooth C&D success (form figures of 23221 here) in emphatic fashion at Cartmel in June. Back on the up following a short break when 2-length second to a well-treated one at Fontwell (2¼m) latest. Sharp 2m very much his bag and sure to go well again.
Cayman Dancer
Fairly useful on the Flat. Showed all that relative speed as a juvenile hurdler and should have opened his account at Fontwell (demoted) in March. Settled better in first-time hood when beaten 8½ lengths over C&D on return, however, could again find himself off the pace in a tactical affair.
Soul Limbo (IRE)
Solid form in bumpers. Fair winner of a Uttoxeter maiden hurdle. Finished 5¾-length third behind Mr McLoughlan (since much improved) last October. Presumably needed his comeback spin on the Flat and doesn't have much to find at the weights on handicap bow. Interesting on only his fifth hurdle start.
Thankyouandplease (FR)
Thriving at the end of last season. Went through his race like there could be more to come behind by a well-backed one at Ayr (heavy) in April. Every chance if back in that form following his comeback in a better race at Cheltenham, however, yard form is a niggle (without a winner since March).
Birthday Angel (IRE)
Landed first leg of a quick-fire double over C&D last November. Fit from the Flat when resuming winning ways (all in class 5 company) in typically smooth fashion at Fontwell last month (2¼m). That was a career best and he should hold his own back up in grade.
One Island (FR)
No match for some above-average types when placed in maiden hurdles last season. Clearly wasn't 100% (made a respiratory noise) sent handicapping in first-time cheekpieces in May. Since undergone a breathing operation ahead and mark remains a lowly one in the context of his fair Flat form.
Uncle Remus
Steadily progressive in bumpers. Now very much in the groove over hurdles, aided by the run of the race making it 2 wins from last 3 starts at Fontwell (2¼m) last time. A 9 lb rise may prevent a double, for all his yard continues in good form - 8 wins (plus 9 placed) from last 24 jumps runners.
