SAGEBOROUGH took a step back in the right direction when fourth of 17 in the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Chepstow on his latest outing and with the step up to 2½m appealing as a potential avenue for improvement, he shades the verdict at the weights. Generous Risk is feared most if bouncing back on his return to action for a yard which has an excellent record in this race, while Quinta Do Lago also merits respect given he remains unexposed at the trip.

Timeform Comments

Generous Risk (FR)
Quick to make into a useful hurdler last season, winning on debut before runner-up in Grade 2. Shaped as if amiss when pulled up in Leopardstown Grade 1 on final outing but big chance if bouncing back on return for yard with excellent record in this race.
Quinta Do Lago (FR)
Won first 2 starts over hurdles and ran well when fifth of 22 to Saratoga in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival. Suited by step up 2½m when back on the scoresheet in minor event at Punchestown in April and arrives fit following a recent run on the Flat.
Riskaway (FR)
Made a successful start over hurdles at Thurles last November and bettered that form when in frame next 2 starts. Failed to fire at Cheltenham but got back on track when 8½ lengths fourth of 10 to Quinta Do Lago at Punchestown on final start and meets that rival on more favourable terms.
Sageborough (FR)
Low-mileage 5-y-o. Much improved when doubling his career/Wexford tally in a conditions event in May (17f). Ran too badly to be true in the Galway Hurdle but took a step back in the right direction when fourth of 17 in Welsh Champion Hurdle at Chepstow latest and looks ready for 2½m.
Mojoe (IRE)
Resumed progress/winning ways in 17-runner handicap at Naas (19f) in March, but seemingly found a listed handicap too competitive at Punchestown in early-May and needs to hit the ground running on his return.
Speisialta (IRE)
Quirky sort who justified support to make it 2 wins from as many starts at Sligo (2¼m soft) 11 days ago, unchallenged. Will surely find it harder to dominate this field.
