Timeform View

Plenty of dead wood in this maiden and it could pay to side with the returning MCALLISTER, who made a promising start in this sphere at Punchestown this time last year and Paul Nolan's 5-y-o remains with potential. Walking Saint, Caprison and Lucky Valley look the main threats in that order.

Timeform Comments

Mcallister (IRE)
Ran to a fair level when sixth of 24 in good 4-y-o maiden hurdle at Punchestown last November. Well held switched to a bumper at Leopardstown following month but retains potential back in this sphere on return.
Western Note (IRE)
Offered something to work with on debut at Down Royal in May 2025 but went backwards from that at Kilbeggan the following month and not seen since.
Caprison (IRE)
Never dangerous in Navan bumper on debut in September but showed much more switched to hurdles at Punchestown (125/1) 3 weeks ago and can improve.
Galway Star
Tailed off at Listowel on debut in September but caught the eye second time up when seventh of 20 in maiden at Galway (17f, soft) last month, the stewards questioning both rider and trainer in relation to the run. Looks one for handicaps after this.
John Gun (FR)
Showed a bit more tried in a hood when fifth of 12 in maiden hurdle at this course (17f, good) in late-August, though spoiled his chance by tending to jump right. Looks one for handicaps.
The Farmers Bar (IRE)
Third on his only start in points and having been well backed for his bumper debut, ran no sort of race here in May. Left Ian John McCarthy after and showed a bit more switched to hurdling after 5 months off at Gowran last month and needs to build on that here.
Whispered Verdict (GER)
Failed to see his race out on debut in a valuable Punchestown bumper in April but showed a bit more when ninth of 11 in bumper at same course (2m, good to soft) on return last month. Tongue tie applied for this hurdling debut.
Lucky Valley (IRE)
Point winner who has shown a bit in Cork bumper and Limerick maiden hurdle 6 months apart. Likely she'll be campaigned with handicaps in mind but respected here nonetheless.
Poetic Parable (IRE)
Some promise in Roscommon and Gowran maiden hurdles 3 months apart. Probably being brought along with handicaps in mind.
Queen Of The Gales (IRE)
Dual point winner who has shaped better than the result on both starts over hurdles, eleventh of 17 in maiden at Gowran (2½m, good to soft) last month. One for handicaps after this.
Walking Saint
Showed a fair bit in maiden hurdles (at up to 21f) and a bumper last season. Hood discarded and she could be the way to go on her return.
Burning Like Fire (IRE)
Third in a point in March but low-key start to Rules career.
Hee Hiles (IRE)
Hinted at more ability than she had in bumpers when mid-field in Fairyhouse maiden hurdle last month, though will be of greater interest when handicapping.
Pat's Prodigies (IRE)
Well beaten in bumper/maiden hurdle last month (jumped none too fluently).
Thranduil (IRE)
Well held in Downpatrick bumper and Punchestown maiden hurdle. Hood goes on. RESERVE.
Eliodam (FR)
Proved disappointing for Willie Mullins, failing to complete in 3 starts over hurdles last season (bled when last seen here in March). Needs a big upturn in fortunes for new yard but first time out might be the time to catch him and this doesn't look a strong race. RESERVE.
Lyrical Park (IRE)
Placed in points and took a step forward from his hurdles debut when mid-field at Limerick recently. First-time cheekpieces go on and he looks one for handicaps. RESERVE.
