Timeform View

A good quality handicap. COLOMBIER looked seriously unlucky not to add to his tally in a Goodwood handicap back in July and with his latest run in France best overlooked (looked after when chance had gone) he looks worthy of siding with to prove his mark an exploitable one on all-weather debut. Valvano has an unexposed profile himself on this surface and is a threat, along with Force and Valour. Cosi Bello completes the dangers.

Timeform Comments

Valvano (IRE)
Showed benefit of both a gelding and breathing operation after 5 months off when landing 13-runner Southwell handicap (7f) in August (form franked). Disappointed next time but best not judged too harshly on his subsequent mid-field effort in Balmoral at Ascot. Interesting back on all-weather.
Dandy Style (IRE)
Dual winner as a 2-y-o for Bryan Smart and did well following a switch to France this year, deservedly resuming winning ways at Longchamp (7f) in June for P. Decouz. Subsequently changed hands for €85,000 but career-high mark demands that bit more back from 139 days off having been gelded.
Heathcliff
Multiple all-weather scorer who quickly got back on track when fourth in Group 3 Chipchase at Newcastle (6f) in June. Feasible to think first start for 3 months was needed when last of 6 in a 6f conditions event here 5 weeks ago and whilst his mark is easing, more is required back in a handicap.
Brian (IRE)
Dual winner for Sylvester Kirk in 2024 who bounced back to his best for present yard when scoring easily at Haydock (7f, soft) in September. Found things tough from revised mark in 1m handicaps at Goodwood/Ascot since and whilst this more suitable, he may find a couple too good again.
Cosi Bello
Dual 7f novice winner (including over C&D) who began 2026 with a bang, scoring on return at Haydock (7f) in April. Sparsely campaigned since, making his effort earlier than ideal when fifth of 13 in handicap at Haydock (1m) in August. Not discounted with all-weather record standing at 2-2.
Force And Valour (IRE)
4-y-o who enjoyed a productive spell in Meydan earlier this year, resuming winning ways over 1m in January and quickly dispelled a lesser effort when second over same C&D a month later. Has a career-high mark to defy returned to Britain but respected nevertheless with Billy Loughnane booked.
Colombier
A 4-time winner in France who made it second time lucky for this yard in handicap at Epsom on Oaks Day in June and mightily unlucky not to add to his tally in another big field event at Goodwood in July. Wide position did him no favours at Longchamp and he's on a workable mark on all-weather debut.
Berkshire Whisper (IRE)
Completed a hat-trick at Newcastle during first half of 2025 and he ran his best race since this spring when 2 lengths seventh of 11 over 6f here 3 weeks ago, albeit better positioned than most. Edging back down to a competitive mark and he looks worth a crack at this longer trip.
Sea Baaeed
Successful only start at 2 yrs and improved in defeat in handicaps last season, proving much sharper with blinkers fitted when just touched off at Ascot (6f) on final start for Richard Hughes 13 months ago. Acquired for just 1,000 gns earlier this year, though, so betting likely best guide here.
Philanthropist
Dual all-weather winner who resumed winning ways in first-time cheekpieces at Yarmouth (7f) in April and performed with credit on each of his final 3 starts for James Fanshawe, latterly when fourth in a C&D handicap 3 weeks ago. Changed hands (38,000 gns) since and this is a taller ask.
