Timeform View

VENETIAN LION completed a hat-trick in September, including a win over C&D, and has been unlucky twice since so is taken to gain compensation at the expense of Tex, who ran well at the weekend, and the well-treated Talis Evolvere.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Of those forecasted with a better chance, Physique could be most vulnerable in a race in which competition for the lead looks to be fierce: There is a chance of a pace burnout early, and Tex is one who may benefit from being produced later.

Timeform Comments

Wyld Bill
Multiple all-weather winner for Denis Quinn but showed nothing in handful of turf starts, including on stable debut last time.
Thunder Roar
Has endured a slightly underwhelming campaign but fourth of 10 at Redcar 9 days ago when making more impact in first-time tongue strap gives him hope from 11 lb below last winning mark.
Dhahabi (IRE)
Not disgraced down in grade when fourth of 9 over C&D but hasn't won since 2023 and would have made more appeal if going back up in trip.
Cogitate (IRE)
Made the frame twice before poor fourth of 5 over further at Epsom last time. Now drops back to 1m and eased in grade but is an infrequent winner.
Hot Cash
Bounced back to form when second of 8 at Chester in first-time cheekpieces in September and has run consistently since, finishing fourth of 9 at Bath 16 days ago. Now wears a first-time tongue strap.
Al Jolson
Similar form all 3 starts, winning a maiden at Redcar in September before fourth of 11 in novice at Wolverhampton 37 days ago under a penalty. Progress likely required on handicap debut.
Venetian Lion
Progressive handicapper who won over C&D in August before completing a hat-trick in September. Not seen to best effect when in frame next 2 starts and remains a serious contender from this mark.
Tex (FR)
Won over this trip at Ascot in September and produced creditable third of 16 at Newmarket over 7f just 4 days ago. Will be suited by this return to 1m and looks a big player if coping with softer going.
Physique (IRE)
Won over 7f at Newmarket in June but has largely struggled since and now has a rare recent outing back up at 1m.
Talis Evolvere (IRE)
Poor strike rate in recent times but better efforts when placed last 2 starts. On a workable mark and could threaten the places if coping with a wide draw.
Mertoun (FR)
Progressive handicapper who has won 4 of last 6 starts, including on all-weather debut when beating 8 at Kempton 21 days ago. Upped in grade here but softer ground and a wide stall look bigger concerns than the 4 lb rise in the weights.
Callisto Dream (IRE)
Won a handicap at Pontefract in May but has disappointed since and others are preferred.
Zowal (FR)
Won at Pontefract in April before third of 5 at this track in June but more miss than hit since, including over further at Ayr last time. Hard to predict.
Susie Sioux
Improved when won an 8-runner handicap at Leicester in 2025, beating a subsequent winner, but not seen since and now steps up in grade on return from 386 days off with the worst of the draw so is best watched.
Coolree (IRE)
Has won 3 times at Beverley this year but not as good at other tracks and also races without usual cheekpieces so is easily passed over.
