Timeform View

CAVALLO PAZZO has been revitalised by the application of a visor in recent weeks, really impressing with how he travelled when defying a 10 lb weight rise at Newcastle on Friday. Wisely turned out under a penalty, he looks a big player in his hat-trick bid, with Motawaared, Empirestateofmind, Ablon and Tolstoy other likely protagonists in an interesting affair.

Timeform Comments

Empirestateofmind (IRE)
Veteran C&D winner who doubled his tally for the season at Ayr (1m) in September and finished placed both runs since, beaten a fair way but running with credit when third in a much stronger race at Haydock (1m, heavy) 3 weeks ago. Player once more back down in class.
Ablon (FR)
Low-mileage filly who posted a good third at Bath on her penultimate start and stepped up on that form when doubling her tally at Kempton (11f) 3 weeks ago. Has winning form over shorter trips so this marked drop back in distance ought not to inconvenience her from 5 lb higher mark.
Izzari (GER)
C&D winner who got back on the up with easy success in 12-runner selling handicap at Southwell (1m) in October. That form worked out quite well and he found the run of the race against him when eighth over that C&D 2 weeks ago. Good gallop to aim at here will aid his cause.
Tolstoy (IRE)
Quirky sort who ended a long losing sequence (in refitted hood) in classified event (Legends) at Doncaster last month (form worked out surprisingly well). Has backed that up back in handicaps since, finishing well when third back at that venue 11 days ago. Player eased in class.
Good Morning Alex
Confirmed previous promise when recording an eighth career success at Hamilton (soft) in September. 8-day turnaround possibly caught him out when tenth over same C&D later that month but given more time ahead of this assignment.
Barley (IRE)
Ended long losing run at Carlisle (1m) last month and posted a pair of solid performances on next 2 starts, including when sixth in class 2 handicap at Redcar (1m) in October. Below that level at Newmarket last weekend but type to bounce back returned to the North.
Cavallo Pazzo (IRE)
Rejuvenated by the application of a visor when back to winning ways at Newcastle (7f) and defied a 10 lb rise when following up over same C&D on Friday. Impressed with how he travelled then and very much of interest under a 4-lb penalty back on turf.
Quiet Resolve (IRE)
Made winning reappearance/stable debut at Hamilton in May and posted good second in handicap at same track in August. Below par since, though, including in blinkers (retained) at Southwell 6 days ago. Others more persuasive.
Motawaared
Gained reward for a series of solid efforts when finally off the mark on heavy ground at Ayr in October and looked unlucky not to follow up when third over 9f here 23 days ago, slow start/rider's attempt to settle him in rear seeing him a long way behind before keeping on. Of interest again.
Escape Act (IRE)
Fair 7f winner for David Simcock in July 2024 and bounced back to form on final start for Richard O'Brien when third at Tipperary following summer. Off 15 months prior to shaping as if retaining ability when seventh of 11 in handicap at this course (7f) 5 weeks ago and return to 1m looks a plus now.
