Timeform View

A 3-time winner in 2025 (including over C&D) THE RESDEV SCHOLAR quickly got back on track when second behind a revitalised veteran at Catterick 8 days ago and hailing from a stable in form, he looks to hold solid claims from a handy draw. Rhoscolyn benefited from the drop into a 0-80 when scoring at Leicester and merits respect under a 4-lb penalty despite a wide draw. Homestrait and Quest For Fun are others worth a second look.

Timeform Comments

Golden Mind (IRE)
Ended 2025 with success at Doncaster (6f, heavy) and stepped up considerably on reappearance when second in a C&D handicap in April. Essentially struggled for form in high-end handicaps throughout the summer but this a handy ease in class if first-time cheekpieces have desired effect.
Witch Hunter (FR)
Bounced back to winning ways in the Summer Cup at Thirsk (1m) in August but more miss than hit since, never threatening at Kempton 23 days ago. Handicapper affords him a little more relief ahead of this, at least.
Rhoscolyn
Fallen long way in the weights and found the drop into a 0-80 liberating to gain a first success since landing the Golden Mile at Goodwood in 2025 at Leicester (1m, heavy) 9 days ago. Remains with handicapping scope under 4-lb penalty for all this demands more back on quicker ground from high draw.
Hunky Dory
Stepped forward from his stable debut effort when bagging 11-runner handicap at Hamilton (6f) in August. However, hasn't replicated that in 2 subsequent outings, weakening final 1f when sixth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (6f) 3 weeks ago. Draw in 12 makes things tricky.
Mudamer (IRE)
Returned to his early season form with usual headgear refitted when successful at Beverley (7.4f) in September, doing it decisively under a positive ride. Not in same form under a waiting ride at Wolverhampton latest but better showing not ruled out here.
Quest For Fun
Victim of his own consistency to some extent and he wasn't winning out of turn when taking 13-runner handicap at Doncaster (7f, heavy) 11 days ago, gliding through the conditions in the process. Very much respected as an in-form sort up 4 lb.
Dandy Magic (IRE)
Consistent sort who confirmed promise of her C&D third when doubling her tally for the season in refitted cheekpieces at Pontefract (6f, heavy) 16 days ago. Yet to taste success at this trip but she's respected nevertheless in this groove.
County Carlow (IRE)
Made all in 6f Sligo maiden (good to soft, wore cheekpieces) for Paddy Twomey in the spring. Best effort for present yard going from front with headgear refitted when a close seventh of 8 at Chester (7f, heavy) 7 weeks ago. Mark has eased a little more ahead of this.
Count Palatine (IRE)
Produced a career best when scoring at Carlisle in August but not been in the same form since, albeit probably finding the ground softer than ideal at Ayr 5 weeks ago. Finds himself operating just 1 lb above last winning mark but he does need to step up again.
Homestrait (IRE)
C&D winner who has done well this season, adding to her tally at Haydock (7f, heavy) in September. Kept busy in recent weeks and found test inadequate when fourth at Catterick (6f, heavy) 8 days ago, finishing well. This more suitable and she's one to consider.
The Resdev Scholar (IRE)
C&D winner who scored 3 times during 2025. Shade unfortunate not to have added to his tally this year and, in line with yard's good form, he quickly dispelled a couple of lesser efforts when second at Catterick (7f, heavy) 8 days ago. On a handy mark and respected from a good draw.
Cargin Bhui (IRE)
Dual 6f winner on all-weather in February who has edged down the weights a little and more encouraging signs of late, staying on for fifth behind Quest For Fun at Doncaster 11 days ago. Return to a sounder surface ought to suit him better and he's not dismissed lightly.
