Lots with chances. MOON CHIME was in the process of running really well (still in front) when falling at the last in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow on his return and this winning stayer on the Flat is worth siding with on his first try over this 3m trip. Recent Ffos Las scorer Kilwaughter heads the list of dangers, although a good case can also be made for the likes of Bill Baxter, Splendid Fellow and Western Monkey in this fascinating handicap. The Jukebox Kid completes the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Gowel Road (IRE)
Winless last season but posted a good fourth in Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham. Shaped as if needing the run when fourteenth of 19 in handicap there (3m, good to soft) 12 days ago. Tongue strap/cheekpieces go back on and this veteran course scorer can take a step forward.
Masaccio (IRE)
Likeable sort. Successful twice over hurdles in 2023/24. A dual chase scorer following season too when also a fine third in the Plate at Cheltenham. Returns from 19 months off here and the market can guide.
Doughmore Bay (IRE)
Low mileage 8-y-o signed off last season with a career-best success in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23f, soft) in March, knuckling down well despite late mistakes. Needs considering on his seasonal return.
Miami Magic (IRE)
Useful novice hurdler and proved better over fences last term, scoring at Cheltenham and here. Still going well when fell 4 out in Grade 1 Mildmay Novices Chase at Aintree (25f, good to soft) in April. Since had a breathing operation and can't be discounted back hurdling for his return.
Moon Chime
Landed the Swinton at Haydock (2m) in May and better than ever on the Flat since with a pair of 2m handicap wins. Shaping really well on his return to this sphere prior to falling last (still in front) in Silver Trophy at Chepstow (19f, soft) last month. Interesting on first go over 3m.
One Big Bang (IRE)
Useful 3m winner over hurdles and took well to fences last season, scoring at Southwell and an excellent third in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham (3¾m) in March. Back over hurdles for his reappearance but can't be dismissed.
The Jukebox Kid (IRE)
Quick to go chasing last season and took very well to it, winning 3 times, including 3m Ascot Grade 2 novice. Badly let down by his jumping when pulled up in Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse (29f, soft) in April. Subsequently had a breathing operation. Back hurdling and remains capable of better.
Amirite (IRE)
Useful ex-Irish chaser who scored at Kilbeggan (25f) last July. Not disgraced with fourth of 14 in handicap chase there (25f, good) in July on final run for Henry de Bromhead. No forlorn hope for new yard back over hurdles.
Kilwaughter (IRE)
Progressive type who resumed from 6 months off with victory in 8-runner handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (3m, soft) 2 weeks ago. Up 5 lb but this course winner remains unexposed over staying trips and is a player.
Bill Baxter (IRE)
Scored over fences at Punchestown (3m) last May before finishing runner-up in this event on sole hurdles start of the season. Off 6 months but likely to go well again here under rider claiming 10 lb.
Walking On Air (IRE)
Formerly very useful hurdler/chaser who showed he still has something to offer when fifth in handicap hurdle at Haydock (3m) in May for Faye Bramley. However, extended a losing run back over fences at Bangor later that month. Has rejoined former yard and tongue strap goes back on.
Game Colours (IRE)
Gained reward for consistency when doubling her tally for the season in 9-runner handicap hurdle at Ayr (3m, heavy) in April. Up 6 lb but can't be totally dismissed on her reappearance.
Docpickedme (IRE)
Enhanced a fine course record when scoring over fences at Doncaster (3m) in December and signed off for the season with victory in 5-runner handicap hurdle there (3m, soft) in February. Possibilities despite his 8-month absence.
Western Monkey
Successful on only start in points and landed 5-runner maiden hurdle at Haydock (3m) last December, overcoming obvious inexperience. Absent since but he clearly retains potential for better still now handicapping.
Splendid Fellow (IRE)
Low-mileage Irish raider who readily got off the mark in 8-runner novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (19f, good) in September. Likely capable of better now stepping up in trip on his handicap debut. Not without interest.
Firestream
Lightly-raced sort but a dual hurdles winner for Anthony Honeyball. Not disgraced for his new yard last season, sixth of 10 in handicap at Haydock (3m, good) in April. Tongue strap goes back on for his return.
King Of The Lake
Sole success last season came at Chepstow (3m) last December. Off 6 months and not disgraced with fourth of 10 in handicap there (3m, soft) 25 days ago. Can build on it here.
