Timeform View

THE MOURNE RAMBLER was among last season’s leading bumper performers and looks to have been found an ideal starting point over hurdles, with Whisky Lads feared most after showing marked improvement when third at Punchestown last time and bumper winners Low Kick and Caman Hill also respected.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

The Mourne Rambler traded at a low of 2.02 and Betfair SP of 2.70 when losing last time, a race in which it raced towards the rear and travelled strongly early on.

Timeform Comments

Ataboymiley (IRE)
Little promise either start.
Caman Hill (IRE)
Won 2 of his 3 bumpers, improving when defying a penalty in a 16-runner Bellewstown event in July despite carrying his head awkwardly and hanging badly right. He ought to prove as effective over hurdles but is clearly a bit quirky.
Finest Band (FR)
Bande gelding. Failed to see his race out when well held in bumper at Roscommon in September. Probably one for later on and best watched on hurdling debut.
Ignite The Moment (IRE)
Fascinating Rock gelding. Going well when fell 2 out sole start in points and was undone by a failure to settle when mid-division in bumper at Punchestown in April. Not discounted with attentions now turned to hurdling.
Low Kick (FR)
Third sole outing in points and built on previous promise in bumpers when impressive winner of 6-runner event at this course (15f, heavy) in February. Was found out in better company when last seen in April. Type to make a better hurdler, though application of a hood a slight concern.
Marian Place (IRE)
Ocovango gelding. Shaped as if in need of experience when down the field in maiden hurdles and is almost certainly one for handicaps in this sphere.
Rough And Tough (IRE)
One-time fairly useful Flat performer up to 9.5f who has shown little in 2 starts in that sphere since returning from a 3-year absence last month, but his pedigree offers hope he can make an impact over jumps at some stage, being a full brother to winning hurdler and chaser Butter Fingers.
The Mourne Rambler (IRE)
Point runner-up who quickly made up into one of last season's leading bumper performers winning 4-y-o event at Leopardstown before landing the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March. Backed that performance up when chasing home With Nolimit in Punchestown equivalent in April. Exciting prospect.
Whisky Lads (IRE)
Showed more than on hurdling debut when 3½ lengths third of 15 to Fiveandahalf in maiden at Punchestown. Sets the hurdling standard on that effort and open to further progress but it will be a surprise if he's good enough to beat an on-song Mourne Rambler.
An Ceanabhan Ban (IRE)
First foal: dam (c87/h75), maiden over hurdles/fences (stayed 19f), half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart staying chaser (Midlands National winner) Mr Vango. This looks a big ask.
Eagle Doll (IRE)
Saddle slipped early when pulled up in maiden hurdle at Clonmel (2½m, good to soft) in April and hampered and unseated first in mares event at Cork last week. Best watched.
Fortunate Miss (IRE)
Won small-field point in May and offered something to work on when 10 lengths fifth of 18 to Sarahs Lawn in bumper at Galway on Rules debut. Type that could outrun big odds.
