A typically wide-open renewal. The vote goes to BALLYBAWN BELTER, who reverts to hurdling on a handy mark following her recent Flat success. Brosna Queen, Le Moulin Rouge, Carrigg Island and Avondale head an extensive list of dangers.

Timeform Comments

Beckett Rock (IRE)
Useful sort who finished fifth in the BetMGM Cup at Cheltenham on penultimate start last season. Weighted to be competitive back hurdling, though typically better for a run in previous seasons.
Balko D'ange (FR)
Popped up with handicap wins on soft/heavy previous 2 seasons. As good as ever when promising second on comeback at Galway (2¾m, heavy) and should give his running back under contrasting conditions.
Riskaway (FR)
Lightly-raced 6-y-o. Borderline useful as a novice hurdler last season. Will need to be back to his very best to defy his opening mark in a race this competitive, though could hardly be in better hands.
Mister Pessimistic (IRE)
Point winner who landed a bumper/maiden hurdle for excellent yard in 2025. Beaten 17 lengths on return in 2m listed event at Gowran (reportedly bled). Up in trip in first-time hood for handicap bow and hard to be confident he'll find the required improvement.
Daily Present (IRE)
Won the Kim Muir at Cheltenham in 2024/25. Emerged with credit when mid-field in this year's renewal. This presumably a pipe-opener with a return to fences in mind.
Avondale (IRE)
Fairly useful handicapper on Flat. Similar form when landing a Bellewstown maiden hurdle/finishing fourth in listed hurdle at Galway festival in 2025. Given a spin on the Flat in May and open to improvement now switched to a handicap hurdle.
Ballybawn Belter (IRE)
Borderline useful hurdler/chaser. Won from this mark over fences at Limerick last December. Arrives on the back of a Flat success in maiden at Killarney (11f). Leading chance at the weights on first hurdle start since early-2024.
Fad Eadrainn (IRE)
Winner of a conditions event at Fairyhouse this time last year. Ran well when 2¾ lengths fourth in listed handicap at Punchestown in April. Entitled to be sharper from last month's comeback at Gowran, though likely needs a career best on first start in more severe headgear.
Daboya (IRE)
Fairly useful Flat winner who is lightly raced in this sphere. Winner of her previous 2 hurdle starts prior to finishing runner-up in mares event at Gowran (2m) last month, the form since franked. Certainly worth a go over this longer trip, given her opening mark demands more again.
Le Moulin Rouge (FR)
Continued theme of run-to-run progression when scoring at Wexford in the spring. Tame first effort at graded level when too lit up in the Persian War on return from further 6 months off. Given a chance by the handicapper following that and could go well if his exuberance is kept in check.
Park Of Kings (IRE)
Hit the frame in top-end handicaps at Cheltenham/Aintree in 2025. On a reduced mark having looked badly out of sorts this year, well beaten behind at Punchestown (100/1) latest. Worth a market check with Mark Walsh on for first time in a while.
Tinto De Verano (IRE)
Seemed to excel himself up in grade when third in a useful conditions event at Punchestown (19f) in April. Off the mark in a race where his main market rivals failed to fire at Ballinrobe (2¾m) in May. Beaten 11 lengths in listed company on return. Again work to do at the weights on handicap bow.
Carrigg Island (IRE)
Fairly useful novice hurdle form in 2025, including third in listed event at Limerick. Probably needed his comeback at Listowel in late-September, good progress 3 out/weakened straight. Attractively handicapped on his novice form.
Elusive Ogie (IRE)
Not the easiest to catch right. Doubled his tally in 11-runner handicap hurdle at Bellewstown (2½m, good) in August. Career-best effort despite finding less than looked likely when second to Harpy Eagle latest. Likely to be played late by Jack Kennedy and could hit the frame.
The Nagger Reidy
Narrowly doubled his tally at Leopardstown in December before ending last season out of form. Fine record fresh but has a relatively inexperienced jockey aboard for his return.
Donnie Devito (IRE)
Winless since completing a double at Galway festival in 2024. Finished 15-length fourth of 16 in first-time cheekpieces at Punchestown on return to hurdling latest. Needs to build on that now pitched into a stronger event.
Nelson Muntz (IRE)
Reliable sort. Justified solid support when doubling his tally at Gowran (2½m). Ran at least as well in defeat when third on first crack over 3m at Clonmel on Thursday. Others look to have more in hand, though.
Rockymountainbleu (IRE)
Best effort since his debut success when runner-up in first-time headgear at Cork in April. Looked rusty on return when well-held sixth behind Harpy Eagle last time. Has a fair shot to reverse that form, if back to something like his best.
Harpy Eagle (IRE)
Beat several of today's rivals to make it 2 wins from 4 starts in a well-run Punchestown handicap last month. Still in fine heart when runner-up in Galway novice under usual good-value claimer subsequently. Career-high mark may prove beyond him back in a handicap.
Brosna Queen (IRE)
Off the mark over hurdles with an improved display in Downpatrick novice (19f) in June, travelling smoothly and asserting quickly. Still at top of her game when beaten 7¾ lengths in mares Grade 3 latest. Weighted to go well back in a handicap.
Fraher Field (IRE)
Stepped up on previous hurdling efforts when narrowly making a winning handicap debut at Listowel. Unsuited by run of the race when third at Punchestown (2m) last time. Bigger field/longer trip may help (tongue strap also added) and cannot be totally discounted from out of the weights.
