An ultra-competitive finale in which the vote goes to TUDORISTA, who is yet to get her head in front but Edward Power's mare is well and truly knocking on the door in recent weeks. Head For Home confirmed his return to form in a change of headgear at Down Royal 10 days ago so he rates as a threat, with Le Fanu, Westin Pimpernel and Mellem a handful of others worth considering, as well.

Timeform Comments

Qaasid (IRE)
Justifiably awarded 15-runner event at Limerick in late-May and minus his usual cheekpieces, returned to form after 4 months off when fifth of 13 at Wexford (17f, heavy) recently. Headgear reapplied and steps back up in trip.
Kalsman (IRE)
Made all over hurdles at Down Royal in April. Similar form when hitting the frame in back-to-back races at Downpatrick over the summer but has lost his way more recently. Back up in trip and needs this switch back to hurdling to spark a revival.
Gaelic Des Chastys (FR)
Ran up to best behind a totally unexposed one when second at Listowel in September but well held from 4 lb out of the handicap at Limerick (2½m, good to soft) since. Better showing anticipated back hurdling from a lower mark.
Surrey Force (FR)
Regressive maiden on Flat and no impact in 4 starts over hurdles. Can only be watched back from 9 months off.
You Done Well (IRE)
In frame first 3 starts this season but has struggled of late and blinkers now back on in replace of cheekpieces.
Diamond Secret (FR)
Promising fifth of 13 on handicap debut at Kilbeggan (2m) in May but has failed to build on that in 2 subsequent starts (in blinkers latest). Returns from 3 months off with a bit to prove.
Cometothinkofit (IRE)
No show in maiden hurdles and failed to beat a rival on handicap debut after 4 months off here (2m, good to soft) 4 weeks ago. Up in trip.
Le Fanu (IRE)
Finally shed his maiden tag in an 18-runner handicap at Listowel (2½m) in May, showing a fine attitude. Easy enough to put a line through his latest Limerick effort in July (raced more towards the inner) so he's one to consider back from 4 months off if ready to roll.
The Ducks Walk (IRE)
Winning pointer who settled better when showing improved form to get off the mark at Gowran (2½m, good to soft) last month. Wasn't disgraced in his follow up bid at Down Royal (3m, good to soft) 10 days ago and quickly returns to 2½m. Each-way claims.
Whispering Hopes (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who was placed 3 times last season but has gone with no encouragement on both starts this campaign. Back up in trip.
Spanish John (IRE)
Without a win over hurdles since 2023 but arrived fit from the Flat and bounced back to form in a reapplied tongue tie when third of 9 at Sligo (3¼m, soft) 17 days ago, clear of rest. Clearly versatile with regards trip so in the mix again nudged up 1 lb.
Tudorista (IRE)
Maiden who has been shaping well recently, placed for a third time on the spin when third of 15 at Fairyhouse (2½m, good to soft) 6 days ago. Must enter calculations.
Mellem (IRE)
Yet to score but shaped as if better for the run after 12 months off when seventh of 15 at this course (2½m, good to soft) 4 weeks ago. Not out of things having eased further in the weights.
Gethegoodtimesroll (IRE)
Made the frame on his most recent start in points but continues to show very little under Rules, tailed off at Sligo when last seen in July. Needs this switch to a handicap to prove transformative.
Ardgillan (IRE)
Hold-up type. Proved a different proposition in first-time hood/tongue strap when finding plenty to land a 16-runner handicap hurdle at Bellewstown (2½m) in August but failed miserably to back that up at Roscommon since. Tongue tie discarded.
Trixaboutmaisie (IRE)
Ran best race returned to a shorter trip after 12 weeks off when second of 17 in handicap at this course (2½m, good to soft) 4 weeks ago, paying late on for passing the majority of the field in a short space of time. Nudged up 2 lb and respected if able to build on that.
Head For Home (IRE)
Inconsistent maiden who attracted support and confirmed return to form in a change of headgear (first-time blinkers) when fourth of 20 at Down Royal (3m, good to soft) 10 days ago. Back down in trip and he's another for the shortlist.
Thehardandthewild (IRE)
No show in 3 handicaps last winter. Returns from 9 months off.
How Decc (IRE)
Long-standing maiden, but after a further 13 months off he showed that he retains ability when fourth of 17 at this course (2½m, good to soft) 4 weeks ago. Needs to build on that here.
Westin Pimpernel (IRE)
Lightly-raced 4-y-o. Easy to back/shaped with more promise than previously when making late headway to finish fifth of 15 at this course (2½m, good to soft) latest. Open to improvement on second start for top yard, with first-time cheekpieces also added to the mix.
Imbolc (IRE)
Remains a maiden after 19 runs and went with little promise after 7 months off at Galway recently. Best watched.
Toor Moon (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who fared no better after 3 months off at Galway recently.
Convincing (IRE)
Left previous hurdle efforts behind when winning 13-runner handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (2m, good) in early-August. Backed that up when fourth at Bellewstown next time but ran poorly on the Flat when last seen. Blinkers back on. RESERVE.
Mydreamtell
No better than mid-field in 3 maiden hurdles but worth a second look now handicapping over a longer trip. RESERVE.
Seeitoldya
Arrives out of sorts, going in snatches and behind from halfway at Navan most recently. Tongue tie discarded. RESERVE.
