Timeform View

COUL ANGEL steps up in grade but there has been a lot to like about his recent big-field handicap victories at the Curragh and York (form of both been well advertised) and he looks very much the way to go. Copacabana Sands could emerge as the main threat if, as expected, building on a recent sixth in the Sceptre Stakes here, while Pellitory and Zen Diva can also have a say. Unique Journey completes the shortlist.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Coul Angel traded at a high of 6.00 and Betfair SP of 6.80 when winning last time, a race in which it raced prominently.

Timeform Comments

Advertised (IRE)
Right back to his best of late, runner-up to Coul Angel at York (6f) before gaining a first win of the season in 15-runner handicap over C&D (heavy) 15 days ago. Shouldn't be underestimated.
Coul Angel (IRE)
Better than ever this autumn and bids for a hat-trick following 6f big-field handicap wins at the Curragh and York. Both those wins have been franked and he's a big player on his first go in listed company.
Goldmoyne (IRE)
Yet another fine advert for his yard, winning 6 times on all-weather between December and March. Added to his tally in game fashion at Ascot (6f) in October and backed it up with a solid third of 15 to Advertised over C&D (heavy) 15 days ago. Possibilities.
Jasour
Runner-up in listed event over C&D in March. His more recent form is not so encouraging though and he was retried in a hood when a well-held fourteenth in Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot (6f, good) 21 days ago.
Montassib
2024 Haydock Sprint Cup winner but hasn't come close to scaling the same heights in a light career since. Off 4 months, not disgraced with third of 6 in 6f conditions event at Kempton in September. Needs to build on it now.
Myal
Bagged 7f Thirsk conditions event in April. Very good second in 7f Haydock listed race in May and right back on song with third of 8 in listed race at Redcar (7f, good to soft) last time. Not out of things.
Pellitory
Notched fourth career 7f win at Haydock in August. Tongue tied and took his form up another level with success in Ayr Gold Cup (6f) and when an excellent fourth at Ascot (7f) after. Possibly found run coming too quickly when a well-held favourite at York (6f, good to soft) since. Can bounce back.
Poatan (IRE)
Good third in 5f listed race at Sandown in June and much improved when winning 5f handicap at Haydock in September. Not disgraced in face of a stiff task when seventh of 16 in Champions Sprint at Ascot (6f, good) 21 days ago. Considered in first-time cheekpieces.
Shagraan (IRE)
Dual listed winner last season for Michael Appleby. Yet to score for current yard but back to his best in first-time cheekpieces when close third in Group 3 at Newbury in September. Failed to back that form up in retained headgear when eighth in listed race at Ascot (5f, good to firm) last time.
Unique Journey (IRE)
Smart gelding who bids for a hat-trick following autumn wins at the Curragh in 6f handicap and 7f conditions event. This is tougher but he goes well on soft ground and can't be dismissed.
Ellusive Butterfly (IRE)
Southwell maiden winner who advanced her form under a change of tactics when landing 7f listed events at Epsom and Carlisle in June. Off 4 months, travelled strongly long way when seventh of 9 in handicap here (7f, heavy) 15 days ago. Can take a step forward.
Navassa Island (IRE)
Useful mare. Doubled her tally in listed event at Cork (6f) in April. Off 7 months, thirteenth of 18 in Group 3 at Chantilly (6f, soft) 12 days ago. Has a bit to prove.
Cherry Baker
Useful effort when making a bold bid for a Chester double (6f) in May. Back to form in first-time cheekpieces when fourth of 13 in listed race at Newmarket (6f, good) last time. This is a tough ask though.
Copacabana Sands (IRE)
Group 3 winner at Leopardstown for Michael O'Callaghan last summer. Not reached that level in 3 runs for this stable but better signs when sixth of 19 in Sceptre Stakes here (7f, good to firm) last time, faring best of those ridden prominently. Not without interest at 6f in first-time tongue tie.
Lady Youmzain (IRE)
Won novice events at Beverley/Pontefract on first 2 runs. Improved when second in 5f listed event at Sandown in June but never able to challenge in similar company at Ayr and Newmarket since. More is required.
Lam Yai (IRE)
Signed off at 2yrs with 6f listed win over C&D in October. Lightly raced this season and has failed to kick on, tenth of 14 in listed race at Ayr (5.5f, soft) last time. Tongue strap goes on for first time.
Midnight Tango
Returned with a much-improved second in Group 3 Pavilion Stakes at Ascot (6f) in May. Has failed to reproduce it however, tongue tied when only seventh of 13 in listed race at Newmarket (6f, good) 29 days ago.
Nariko (IRE)
Dual 6f/7f handicap winner last summer. Lost her way subsequently but back on song with third of 14 in listed race at Ayr (5.5f, soft) in September. Needs to back it up.
Space Bear (IRE)
Formerly a free-goer who reacted really well to forcing tactics to land 6f handicaps at Windsor and Yarmouth this summer. Good fourth in listed race at the Curragh (6f) after but not at her best when eighth of 11 in 6f handicap at Kempton last time. Faces an uphill task here.
Sunday Girl
Frankel filly shaped well when a debut third at 2yrs and made light of a year's absence to land 5-runner novice at Windsor (6f, good to firm) in August. Tongue strap goes on for first time. Capable of better still but this requires major improvement.
Zen Diva
Progressive sort who bagged a fourth success of the season in 6f handicap at Salisbury in September. Beaten a neck in 13-runner listed race at Newmarket (6f, good) last time. Very much one to consider.
